Defibrillation Provider (AED)

AED PROVIDER (AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATION) 3.0-4.0 Hrs

This course trains the participant in the usage of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Course includes AED theory, AED shock scenarios, transfer of care, special situations, maintenance, and written test. Prerequisite: CPR Heart Saver (minimum) or CPR must be combined with AED training. Successful candidates receive an AED provider wallet card valid for 1 year.

Babysitters Course

BABYSITTING COURSE 12 Hrs

Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training is an important training program for potential babysitters and parents considering hiring a babysitter. Course covers the responsibilities of a babysitter, safety in the home, select safe and suitable games and activities, how to handle the basics of infant and child care, how to react responsibly to medical emergencies and injuries, CPR, perform first aid for common childhood injuries and illnesses, poison control and set up and can prepare children to interview for a babysitting job. The course is open to anyone ages 11-13 yrs. old.

Oxygen Admin & Airway Maintenance

OXYGEN ADMINISTRATION & AIRWAY MAINTENANCE 4 Hrs

The Oxygen Administrator course focuses on the safe handling and administration of medical oxygen as First Responders. Oxygen can and should be applied to all serious medical emergencies. Learn how to recognize these conditions and administer 100% oxygen when needed. Course includes oxygen theory, oxygen administration, nasal/oral airways, v-vac suction, bag valve mask, and maintenance. Successful candidates receive an Oxygen administration wallet card valid for 1 year.

WHMIS

WHMIS PRIVIDER 4-6 hrs

The W.H.M.I.S. provider course offers the opportunity to train employees about the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. Student employees need to know that the rights that apply to regular and full-time employees under provincial law are extended to them as well. Each worker has the right to; 1) KNOW what hazards are present on the job and how these hazards can affect them, 2) The right to PARTICIPATE in health and safety activities, and (3) The right to REFUSE dangerous work. Course includes; WHMIS legislation, presentation techniques, MSDS/labels, workplace duties, hazard classifications, written quiz.

FIRST AID COURSES

Emergency First Aid - Level A, B or C CPR and AED Awareness

EMERGENCY FIRST AID – LEVEL A, B OR C (LR) CPR & AED AWARENESS 6.5-8.0 Hrs

Candidates learn basic assessment and first aid treatment in emergency situations. Course includes activating 911, scene survey, patient assessment, choking, CPR skills (Level A) and AED awareness, shock, bleeding wounds, and more. Successful candidates receive an Emergency First Aid wallet card and wall certificate valid for three years, and a CPR Heart Saver (Level A) wallet card for 1 year. There is no recertification for this program. Level B or C CPR is available at extra cost.

Standard First Aid - Level A, B or C CPR and AED Awareness

STANDARD FIRST AID – LEVEL A, B OR C (LR) CPR & AED AWARENESS 14-16 Hrs

This two-day course covers all the skills in Emergency First Aid plus scene survey, patient assessment, choking, CPR Skills (Level A,B or C), AED awareness, bleeding wounds, shock, broken bones, poisoning, diabetes, medical conditions, and heat/cold injuries.

Successful candidates receive a Standard First Aid wallet card and wall certificate valid for three years, and a CPR Basic Rescuer (Level C) wallet card for 1 year (public) or 3 years (corporate, non health care). Level B or C CPR is available at extra cost.

Standard First Aid - Level C Health Care Professional HCP

STANDARD FIRST AID – LEVEL C HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL (HCP) CPR & AED PRACTICE 18-20 Hrs

This course is intended for Health Care Providers and other First Responders and includes all the skills in Emergency First Aid plus first aid for other injuries and illnesses, including head and spinal injuries, fractures of the upper and lower limbs, and the Health Care Provider (HCP) CPR. Min. age: 16 years

Standard First Aid Retraining- Level A, B or C CPR and AED

STANDARD FIRST AID – LEVEL A, B OR C (LR) CPR REFRESHER 8 Hrs

This course is intended for those who have a current Standard First Aid - Level C certificate and includes a review of essential skills with a focus on theoretical and practical skills testing. Includes Level C CPR recertification and AED recertification. Previous course must have been the complete Standard First Aid - Level C CPR course.

Pet First Aid

PET FIRST AID 6-8 hrs

Pet first aid training is an important tool for taking care of the companions you love. Your animal is more than just a pet; they are a member of your family and deserve your best care. This course is designed to build the owner’s confidence to respond to an injury or illness in your pet and administer appropriate care, or stabilize and transport your pet to the veterinarian. Course includes; pet proofing your home, unconsciousness, CPR, airway obstruction, vomiting, dehydration and diarrhea, shock, internal and external bleeding, spinal, bone and joint injuries, poisons, eye, ear and nose injuries, and more. Pet First aid does not replace your vet, but handling emergency situations properly from the beginning can save you money by recognizing and treating injuries early.

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDER

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDER (EFR) 40-44 hrs

Emergency First Responder is a comprehensive full week program customized for first responders managing the scene of an emergency. Course includes: Assessing and securing an emergency scene, making critical decisions including airway insertion, oxygen administration, breathing devices, automated External Defib (AED), all levels of basic cardiac life support (CPR), enhanced secondary survey, baseline vitals, such as blood pressure and pulse rate, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, burns, heat and cold emergencies, spinal board, cervical collars, moving and transportation skills, emergency childbirth, other specialized equipment, and assisting when paramedics arrive. Students will receive a first responder textbook as part of their tuition. Students receive a wallet card valid for 3 years.

INSTRUCTOR COURSES

CPR & Defibrillation Instructor

CPR & DEFIBRILLATION INSTRUCTOR 16 hrs

Joining the Perri-Med Instructional team is easy. Our instructors can teach scheduled courses at the National training centre, or operate independently as an affiliate creating your own training company. Our training programs provide the instructor with in-depth skills, materials, training products and support necessary to conduct all levels of Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR and public AED programs. If you are new to emergency care training and wish to become a Perri-Med CPR Instructor, follow these steps: Obtain a current Perri-Med CPR Health Care Professional (HCP) or Lay Rescuer (LR) Level C certificate and an AED provider certificate. Register for a Perri-Med First CPR Instructor course by returning the completed course registration form. Obtain your pre-course instructor package and complete the precourse assignments. It is recommended that you audit a minimum of 2 CPR/AED courses prior to the instructor course. Complete the 16 hour CPR/Defibrillation Instructor course. Complete monitoring by Perri-Med CPR Instructor Trainer, while teaching a CPR course.

First Aid Instructor

FIRST AID INSTRUCTOR 16 hrs

Our training programs provide the instructor with in-depth skills, materials, training products and support to conduct CPR, AED and First Aid training programs. Click here for FAI registration form. If you are new to emergency care training and wish to become a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor, follow these steps: Obtain a current Standard First Aid certificate from any recognized training agency and obtain a current Perri-Med CPR/Defibrillation Instructor certificate prior to the FAI course. Register for a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor course by returning the course registration form. Obtain your pre-course instructor package with assignments and prepare for the course. It is recommended that you audit at least 2 first aid courses prior to the instructor course. Complete the First Aid Instructor course. Complete monitoring by a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor Trainer, or "experienced" Instructor while teaching a first aid course.

Cross-Over to Perri-Med

CROSS OVER TO BECOME A PERRI-MED FIRST AID/CPR INSTRUCTOR 8 hrs

If you are already a current First Aid/CPR/ instructor with another approved organization, it is easy to crossover and become a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor. Contact a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor Trainer to cross-over as a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor. Obtain your pre-course instructor package and prepare for the cross-over. It is recommended that you audit one or more first aid courses prior to the cross-over. Provide documentation of your current First Aid Instructor certification and other related instructor certificates (eg. CPR I, HCP I, AED I, etc.). Prepare to demonstrate, at a minimum, all CPR Health Care Professional (HCP) skills, defibrillation skills and one bandaging skill. Attend the cross-over update with a certified Perri-Med First Aid Instructor Trainer. The one day cross-over orientation includes all administrative materials and presentations for training.

WHMIS Instructor

WHMIS INSTRUCTOR 16 hrs

The W.H.M.I.S. Instructor course offers the opportunity to train employees about the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System. Each worker has the right to know information about hazardous chemicals in the workplace. Course includes; WHMIS legislation, presentation techniques, MSDS/labels, workplace duties, hazard classifications, written quiz. If you wish to become a Perri-Med W.H.M.I.S. Instructor, follow these steps: Obtain a current WHMIS provider certificate from any recognized training agency Register for a Perri-Med W.H.M.I.S. Instructor course by returning the completed course registration form. Obtain your pre-course instructor package with assignments and prepare for the course. It is recommended that you audit one or more W.H.M.I.S. courses prior to the instructor course. Complete the W.H.I.M.I.S. Instructor course. Complete monitoring by a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor Trainer while teaching a W.H.M.I.S. course.

Oxygen Instructor

OXYGEN INSTRUCTOR 6 hrs

The Oxygen Instructor course offers the opportunity to teach other the skills, knowledge and regulations required to teach Oxygen provider programmes. Course includes; course presentations, oxygen theory, oral/nasal airways, V-vac suctioning, practical scenarios and written quiz. If you wish to become a Perri-Med Oxygen Instructor, follow these steps: Obtain a current Oxygen provider certificate from any recognized training agency Provide documentation of your current Heart & Stroke Foundation CPR Instructor certification Register for a Perri-Med Oxygen Instructor course by returning the completed course registration form. Obtain your pre-course instructor package with assignments and prepare for the course. It is recommended that you audit one or more Oxygen provider courses prior to the instructor course. Complete the Oxygen Instructor course. Complete monitoring by a Perri-Med Oxygen Aid Instructor Trainer while teaching an oxygen provider course.

First Aid/CPR Insructor Trainer

FIRST AID/CPR INSTRUCTOR TRAINER 16 hrs

Instructor Trainers are certified to train students and Instructors in Perri-Med First Aid Training Programs. If you have been a current Perri-Med First Aid Instructor for the past 2 years, follow these steps: Register for a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor course by returning the completed course registration form. Provide documentation of your current Perri-Med First Aid Instructor certification. Obtain your pre-course instructor trainer package with assignments and prepare for the course. It is recommended that you audit two or more instructor courses prior to the instructor trainer course. Complete the First Aid Instructor Trainer course. Complete monitoring by a Perri-Med First Aid Instructor Trainer while teaching a first aid instructor course. The Instructor Trainer course includes: first aid reguations, course design & content, practical assignments, written assignments, course presentations, time management, candidate evaluation tools and written quiz.
